Black Stars over Yamazora – The Eclipsed Path
Synopsis: Black Stars over Yamazora – The Eclipsed Path
The twin moons have lined up above the old city of Yamazora. That means the forbidden path to ‘The Eclipsed Realm’ has opened for the first time in twenty years. Kaito Ren, an impulsive boy desperate to fix a childhood bond, steps forward. He’s chasing a rumor: ‘whoever walks through the stars in the Eclipsed Realm can fix any piece of the past.’ They say it drains the soul, if you step off the path. Some laugh that off. Others leave offerings. What do you think? Would you dare it, for a friend?
Kaito doesn’t go alone. Clay, an old friend who hides her fear with sharp words, joins. Jin, cool and logical but hiding his own scars, follows against his better sense. Their bond’s frayed at the edge, but he can’t let the others walk into danger without him. Each has a secret hope – and one fear they’re not ready to put to words.
The old stone stairs behind the abandoned shrine glow with blue fire. The friends step into cold mist. Instantly, vision shifts: the air shivers. Paths fork in four, each shot with strange, humming symbols. Nobody knew there would be a choice so soon. Which route to take? Kaito votes left – it ‘feels right.’ Jin objects, counseling calm. Clay, already shivering, pushes forward with Kaito anyway, but looks back. What would you do? Trust fate or odds? Or vote for the safest face in the group?
At first it’s dreamlike. Shadows flutter at the edge – tiny animal spirits tempting them off the road. Kaito almost steps astray, lost in memory of his sister Aika, lost years ago at these same stairs. Clay yanks him back, voice sharper than she means. “Focus! I won’t drag you home in pieces, okay?” For a moment, it’s almost like old days.
Midway, stones in the road fade out. The sun doesn’t rise here. There’s a chill: time pools around their feet. Jin reads the marks in the gloom aloud. A strange mist rises – and the path splits again, with a vision each must face. Kaito sees a ghost of Aika down by the ruined river dock they knew as kids.
Clay faces the glove on the road; the one she left behind when Aika drowned. Jin, silent for a long time, stares at an odd static on the ground, thinking of the time he lied to save himself and hurt Aika instead. The wind whistles. They realize: to press on, they have to speak their hearts. Out loud. Together.

Few quests push friends so close to the edge. Kaito takes the lead; at first it’s a whisper. “If I hadn’t run off that day, maybe she wouldn’t…” Clay, breath shaking, admits she never checked the river’s edge. Jin finally says what he always avoided. “I blamed her. It was easier than blaming myself.” Pain in every word. Are you surprised at this? Or do old friendships hide old scars?
The symbols fade. The road strengthens. They’re allowed to step through. On the far side, looming black pillars block a swirling yellow rift. It’s the Door from legend: shiny and dreadful. But as they approach, Kaito sees a girl with silver hair within–not Aika, but a puzzle posing as her. It beckons. Behind them, footsteps; something else made it this deep.
They’re not alone. Unknown hands press at the edge of the rift, grasping for the way through. For a second, all is still except for their ragged breathing. Should they risk the last step?
The group look at each other. Clay takes Kaito’s hand this time. Jin backs toward them, voice low: “Whatever we do, this is the point of no return.” Kaito nods, trembling, but determined now. The gate pulses: it’s open – or hungry. Faint voices echo, not all of them friendly.
Kaito reaches for the Door. The episode ends as it bursts open with cold blue light. For a split second, Aika’s laugh is heard – sharp, short. To be continued. Wonder what’s waiting for them inside?
