Starbound Delivery: The Clockwork Sky
Starbound Delivery: The Clockwork Sky
Yuto Kase is seventeen and craves a real purpose. Each day, he stares up from cramped city corners. One calm spring, he gets his break: Yuto lands a spot with Starbound Delivery, the odd courier group that runs between sky islands.
The first delivery feels easy, almost dull. His team hits the sky, dodges wild wind, touches down at Koimei Isle, and grabs the shy client’s parcel. But his friend Ria, quick and nervous, keeps glancing behind them. The second stop isn’t on the chart. Yuto hates missing data and nags the delivery manager about it until he gets snapped at.
That’s Darnel: the calm, tired leader none of the kids quite trust. Darnel’s cryptic smirk always spells trouble for Yuto. This time, he claims it’s a “quiet site.” Yet after sunset, wild voltage hits the ship’s hull—then Ria’s scanner breaks hard.
Floor lights blink off in the next second. Someone’s cutting them off from city float zones—they’re blocked from sky calls. Nerves on edge, a knock comes from the hatch. Miko, their rival, shows up with a gadget that hums; she brandishes a ring, claims it’s “keycode prime.”
Why would she trust Yuto’s team? And why now? Miko is a wild card—once, Yuto caught her stealing thunderberries back in year one. His friend Ria whispers, “Don’t let her near the nav.” But Darnel scratches his jaw and lines up the team. They’re outnumbered by the odds—unsure if the job’s a set up or a golden ticket.
The sky thickens with low clouds as stealth drones approach. Was the parcel a decoy? Can Yuto step up or will his need for answers hold everyone back?
Just at the break, wind screams over the hull, a bolt shocks Ria, and Miko yells—they’re out of time. As the ship tips, the case opens, spilling its secret. Part of a clockwork key, old, humming, rusted but warm.
What would you do? Pass it along blind, or risk everything and unlock the truth with your rival watching?
This story slows for a beat—eye contact hangs between Miko and Yuto. Outside, rival couriers form in the dark, waiting for the signal.
Before he can say a word, Yuto clutches the key. “I’ve got to know. Darnel, what’s this for?”
Darnel says nothing. The floor drops, turbine whines, screens flicker, and the ship veers toward an island no one knows.
Edge of your seat? You may want to rewatch that docking maneuver before next episode.
