Ride the Edge: Sky’s Leap
Prologue: Shadows Above the Cliff
The room hums with energy. Kanato’s eyes snap to the screen, where the next Extreme Spire Games teaser blares. He sits at his desk, old medal shining in the soft light. There it is — footage of the Sky Leapers who jump vast cliffs only to catch paragliders mid-fall. Crowds roar each time someone lands.
His phone vibrates. Club notifications. He sighs. “You still after those clouds?” says Yuma, his roommate, flicking a pen at him. Kanato grins. “I’m not afraid. I want to feel the air chase.”
Is hunting the next thrill just a call? He knows what he wants, but the why burns harder these days.
Main Cast Gathers: Ghostwing Club Call
At their school’s weathered gym, Kanato enters the Ghostwing Club meeting. Risa mans the boards, marking jump sites across the map. DJ Tan plays sample wind sounds on tiny speakers while Fumi stands by the lockers, arms folded. “Any of you actually reading the entry rules? Most teams wash out.”
Kanato laughs. “If there’s a sky, there’s a way.” Risa grins, sliding his gear box forward. Cold steel bites Kanato’s arm when he checks his hooks.
“Game officials opened a slot tomorrow along Mistfall Ravine,” she whispers. “We’re in. But… Chaisu’s squad trains there. He edges the jump times every year.” Kanato feels a rush. Risk is nothing without rivals.

Conflict: Doubts on the Edge
Next morning, clouds bruise the sky as the group reaches Mistfall. The wind bites, and the cliff looms. Yamamoto, last year’s champion, watches from the far pad, his drill squad ready. “Nothing pushes harder than leaping after what you want,” murmurs Risa, buckling her own wings.
Kanato waits for his go. DJ readies a small drone for the camera feed.
There’s word Chaisu’s pulled stunts today. How do you keep grit when old luck keeps running thin? Have you ever doubted a risk until it’s right before you?
Mid-Flight: Moment of Clarity
Kanato throws himself from the ledge. Air catches his cheeks, sharp and thin. Paragliders swirl below — his route swerves to dodge the red zone.
“Wind shift! Kanato, bank left!” shouts DJ over the comm. Kanato loops, hunting lift, mind clear. His gloves chill. Ahead, Risa spins out — too close to the mist.
He grabs her wrist as fog rolls. Shadow forms flicker — Yamamoto’s squad. There’s barely room to spread wings. Shouts trade. “Your move, third-string! Bet you pull out!”
It’s right here: Kanato finds a calm he didn’t know he had. He sets the line. Risa steers. “Let’s land this,” he calls. Her grip is iron tight.

Stakes Elevated: Rival Team Moves
DJ spots Chaisu’s flare pop, marking their dive. “They’re overloading the updraft,” yells Fumi. Kanato locks eyes with Chaisu through fog streaks. Lightning crackles from distant cloud clusters, worry clear on all faces.
Rules mean nothing; skill is king now. Risa snaps, “They’ll crowd us into a tailspin if we don’t break now.”
“Ideas, Kanato?” Fumi prods. Harm’s real and right under them. Go fast or be swept.

Cliffhanger Ending: Past Shadows, Future Air
Through crackling wind and flailing pennants, Kanato traces the old track, then pulls hard left — unexpected.
He whispers into comms. “If we thread that electric gap, we’re through. Trust me.”
Half guessing, half diving, their hijacked momentum rockets the team closer. Chaisu’s horde trails.
This maneuever will crash or break all odds. Kanato locks eyes with Risa as sky tears.
You ever roll the dice when everything’s to lose or win? They bolt down — final moment still hiding its outcome…
To be continued.
