Synopsis
Akira Shinomiya logs in to the top virtual world, Origin Gate, seeking fame as a pro duelist. He’s cool but too curious. What would you do if winning meant risking your sense of self?
A night quest turns wrong when Akira and his old guildmate Yuta fall into a glitched subzone. Everything’s off: hills wobble, skies ooze static. NPCs stare for too long. Rumor says nobody is meant to return.
Yuta glares at glitching sky: “That cloud’s repeated seven times. This raid can’t be real.” Akira doesn’t blink. “Let’s test its border.”
They meet Aya, an old mystery player, who can’t log out. Her code tag dates back three updates. Books in this zone re-write themselves as you turn each page. How is this even possible? Have the updates buried clues why Origin feels so real tonight?
Not alone for long. Specters in System Admin cloaks roam—silent, like old bugs given shape. One points at Yuta’s badge. The next second, his avatar starts fragmenting pixel by pixel.
Yuta stumbles. “My skills won’t load. Akira, move!”
Akira drags Yuta behind gauss-blasted walls. Aya hands them a torn world map, surfaces shifting as she speaks:
“Each code failure breeds these errors. They haunt the bugs.”
Meanwhile, scenes from the real world—Akira’s half-glimpsed desk, Yuta’s keyboard, Aya’s blurred-out memories—flash past too quick to follow. 
Do you think they’d stick it out deep in the digital unknown, even as fake floor tiles start dropping away?
The squad faces a puzzle door needing answers only from the outside world. Choices drawn from odd player memories seep in as audio. Akira shouts, “Aya! What’s the smell in your old classroom?” She pauses: “Chlorine, paper… and rain.” The console clicks open, but nothing behind it is normal.
Layer by layer, Origin Gate blurs into half-formed dream logic, more run on real humans than simple code. Akira questions the reason for these echoes. He thinks, did someone build meaning in the blanks? Aya says, “We broke the wall. Our minds filled in the leaks.”
Maybe it’s you, through your screen, shaping what’s real here. Do these characters write themselves past their bones or just reflect us?
The Admins swarm. Lights blind. Akira hurls Yuta his last quest key—“You finish this!”—while we see Akira’s hands break into wireframe, then loose dust. 
Episode fades on Aya’s digital eyes, teetering at the warped door, trembling with code running wild. Should she go, survive—or give herself up trying to rewrite all the rules again? Answers linger, just past cutoff sound.
