Crimson Moonlit Pact
Genre: Shonen, dark fantasy, action
Protagonist: Akira Hayashi, a hot-headed yet loyal demon hunter whose twin vanished years ago.
Motivation: Akira’s driven to reunite with their twin, Ren, who was last seen near a demon-warped forest. He never breaks a promise, which anchors his friends.
Supporting Cast: Aya (cool-headed weaponsmith); Daichi (older, tired exorcist, always snacking); Yume (small spirit fox, claims to know Ren’s fate).
The night’s quiet buries the village by the Black Pine Forest—and that quiet snaps. Akira hears skittering behind the closed shrine gate. Aya whispers, “Ready your charm bombs. If we panic, we’re feeding them.” Daichi nearly drops his chips. You get tense too, right?
Every drop of starlight feels thick. Akira checks the old map he stole from the cathedral: a silver-bladed dagger mark over a clearing called ‘Withering Root’. What would you bet happens next? Yume bobs at his shoulder, eyes big and sharp. She giggles, “Moon’s high—someone’s watching.”
Stepping out, they find villagers hiding beside flickering torches. The village elder grabs Akira’s arm. “If you see red eyes, run. Don’t talk, don’t make a deal.” But Akira’s heart pounds. Red eyes are what took Ren. Running’s not in him right now.
Flashback: Ren, six years old, kneel by the pond, reflected moon screaming red. “Promise—you’ll save me if I get lost?” Akira gripped their hand. “Always.”

Back in sunlight, Aya hisses, “Split up? Quicker, but dumber.” Daichi grumbles about plans while folding a paper talisman between greasy fingers. “Foxes lead. Spirits hide. Keep up or eat dirt.” Should you ever trust a fox spirit? It’s iffy every time.
If Akira turns the knife wrong tonight, it draws not blood but shadow. They march under pine boughs, bark curling like hands. Moonlight finds Ren’s old shoes stuck in mud below the big root—and black leaves crumpling to ash all around.
A howl rolls. Glossy black-furred beasts with bone masks start circling. Akira flicks charm bombs. Aya hurls silver bolts into the dark, cracking bone. Daichi, thick voice over fox squeals: “Name your real fear, or they’ll eat yours.”:
“Ren!” Akira yells. Shadows freeze. One masked head tilts. A raw voice crawls from its jaws: “Still looking, brother?” Aya’s arrow wavers. Yume vanishes. Did you guess it was Ren? Most wouldn’t—it’s not their face, but you know that voice.

Fight breaks; silver flecks bite shadowbeast flesh. Teeth snap for the group’s ankles. Akira leaps—ramming into the hulking demon-suit. Mask cracks. Through a slip, a tired face glances up. Ren’s under the skin of this beast. Don’t you wonder—fight or forgiveness?
“This isn’t your fault!” Akira shouts. Aya covers him. Daichi draws spirit force, ready to bind Ren-demon before he loses the twin for good. But under blood moonlight, Ren’s voice rips back: “You kept the promise…but now let go—run.” Fire tears the woods behind.
Scene explodes—moon, fire, shadow claws. Yume reappears by Daichi, whispering something lost under howls. Aya shouts “Pick! Save Ren or save the village!” Akira stands torn—gripping the old dagger. Who would you choose?
Cliffhanger: Trees burn. Ren screams, trapped in demon skin. Akira charges past shadow beasts. Talismans unleash blue sparks, barely holding back claws. Ren or the whole village? You can’t see who survives till you turn the next page.
