Wings Over Ivory: The Secret Duel at Astra Academy
Prologue: The Gate of Talent
A cold wind sweeps the marble courtyard. In this world, every student fights not just for grades, but for their family’s name. Astra Academy stands tall. Its towers catch the evening light, gold and proud. Who would show promise here? Two figures meet at the gate, each holding onto hope more than baggage.
Yuto Karasuma thinks only of one thing: outshine his older brother. He bows low as the Master greets new arrivals. “You’ll win your place, or wish you tried harder,” the old man says. Is he warning, or teasing?
Act 1: The Class List Revealed
Yuto scans a list by the great stairs. Room 114. He whispers, “I made it,” but there’s no one to hear him. The list splits into classes: Lions, Ravens, Owls, Foxes. They all gaze at each other, judging, measuring, before any true meeting. There’s Hisami the scholar, Hana with her sketchbook, and Sora—arrogant yet lost, like a cat with a limp. Hana asks, soft, “Wonder who gets expelled first? Doesn’t someone always go?”
Act 2: First Combat Trial
No boring exams here—day one is fighting. Professor Senzaki wheels out a cart stacked with wooden blades. Every student chooses one. Yuto fights last. “Show me how hungry you are,” Senzaki rebukes, as Yuto hesitates. He nods. Clatters signal, first test begins.
No one expects Kazue Ogami to knock out six students with steady, clean blows. She picks her teeth, bored. Sora tries a cheap trick and gets put on the floor. Lilly, nervous, swings too wide and almost falls over. Is this cruel for day one, or honest?
Act 3: Dinner in the Echoing Halls
Students eat on wide oak benches. Hana smiles. “Your turn tomorrow. Got a plan?” Hisami shrugs. “Pray they trip.” Some share stories, vying for laughs. Yuto just eats, silent. A letter arrives: Duel invitation. The card bears his name—sealed with the Academy crest.
Yuto walks to the garden. Cherry petals fall slow. Facing him in the moonlight: Sora. “I want to end this before it starts. Winner chooses the loser’s seat in class.” Is he scared? Or desperate for status?
Act 4: Duel Under the Stars
Sweat gathers under Yuto’s gloves. The sticks are lighter than swords but hurt if you don’t block. Sora tries speedy swings. Yuto wins the first two points with fast footwork. The battled escalates. “Give up yet?” Sora sneers.
A small crowd gathers. These sides are more than sides—your friends or your rivals? The headmaster’s shadow falls on them as the match tips in Yuto’s favor. A voice calls, “Enough!” before the last touch. Was it an act of mercy?
Act 5: The Aftermath
Sora storms off. Yuto drops the stick. Hana pats him: “People watch here, so behave. Tomorrow you’ll swap from Lion to Raven, rules are rules.” He had to win, but now faces a class that hates outsiders. Why does this place tear at you just as soon as you fit in?
Outside, soft snow falls as the list of classes glows again. This time, someone has marked out names with ink. Sora’s? Or someone else? The words in his mind: Family is destiny, but whose family will you build—one forced or found?
Interlude: Rumors and Shadows
Gossip starts quick. Who changed the class list? What are the bets for next week’s duel? Lilly whispers, “Next time, they’ll aim low.”
Cliffhanger: The Master’s Challenge
The Master summons Yuto and four others at dusk. No weapons lie on the table. Only blank pages and pens. He gives no clue. “Write what you dream—and what dreams would force you to betray the person beside you.” Light flickers over each hesitant face. Who will twist first? What would you confess, if you knew no one could read it but everyone would judge? Is mastery in your blood, or in your choice?
