Natsuki Ren, a quiet but sharp high school student known for his fine embroidery work, wants just one thing: justice for his twin sister. Suki fell into a coma after a fire at their family shop last November, right after a bitter feud with 3 boys from the town’s elite dojo. Townsfolk called it an ‘accident,’ but someone left a scarlet thread at the scene—a thread found only in those boys’ rare warrior cloaks.
After months by Suki’s bedside, Ren returns to class. He shuts off, talks only to Hina, his late-night chat buddy and class rank rival with restless feet. Is justice better served cold? Hina asks, shaking a pack of matcha gum. Ren won’t answer her. Every fragment of his quiet rage, he pours into needle and fabric by day. By night, he games and researches the dojo boys’ routines. When their leader, Shinji, taunts him in the hall—’Stitch me a badge, threadboy?’—Ren only smiles. Not for their eyes. For himself.
One evening, Hina watches him embroider in the park. Wind tugs red thread through tight patterns. She sighs. ‘I wish you’d talk.’ Ren’s hands shake a little but don’t stop. ‘Soon. I will.’ He’s cutting out slip patterns, plotting, eyes shining in dusk.
Bit by bit, Ren uses rumors and careful text pranks to pit the dojo trio against each other. Daichi, anxious, finds shredded practice gear with Suki’s name barely hidden in black marker. Taiga sniffs trouble in the locker room. Each starts to trail Ren, certain he’s up to something, but their bond cracks anyway, quiet and sharp. Hina’s voice gets keener: ‘You’re changing, Ren.’
Tension bleeds into class. Shinji’s charm drops, replaced with warnings whispered in the back row. Places are swapped; rumors ignite. Ren lands a spot in the Student Festival committee beside Daichi—his first chance, up close.
Inside the supply room, Ren shows him a newly repaired club banner. The red thread glows in the sun. Daichi flinches. Ren says, low, ‘Do you remember this pattern?’
‘It’s—it’s… Suki…’ Daichi’s face drains. For a moment, he glances at the closed door. Ren’s smile is gentle, almost kind, but Daichi backs out fast, making up some excuse.
The cracks turn to gaps. One midnight, Ren stands on the dojo roof, silk thread trailing from his fists. The fire from his window view playing again and again. In voiceover, his grief and guilt bind every tight knot. 
Mysterious notes appear in the dojo. Each lays blame. Shinji links them: it only happens when Ren is nearby. At home, Ren nearly snaps—he jams a needle deep into his finger and gazes at the small bead of blood. Hina finds him later, hands trembling.
‘You’re torturing them, aren’t you? You’re hurting yourself too.’ she whispers. Her voice is soft, but firm. He bristles.
‘I want them to suffer the way we did.’ He finally admits it—clear and raw. The curtain pulls back, but Hina turns away. ‘Just don’t lose yourself.’
For days, Ren walks a fine line. He triggers memories the boys have tried to bury, confronting them without proof in daylight, twisting his gentle craft with just enough threat. Suki’s image drifts through his dreams: “Why, Natsu? Why live in this silence?” He wakes up sweating, sheets tangled, fingers still curling as if holding a thread.
The festival opens. The dojo’s club event features a symbolic textile ‘bond knot’ woven by Ren—meticulously replicating the burnt fabric from the incident. It unnerves the whole crowd, catching student council attention. Was this art, or was it accusation? Daichi faints on stage. A Dojo father storms off in suspicion. Ren realizes something dark inside has grown stronger than he wanted.
He drags himself to Suki’s side. There’s a faint squeeze—has she moved? Or is he so caught he’s only wishing?
The next morning, a video leaks: grainy footage shows three shadows on festival night, a lighter in shaky hands. The town plunges into rumor, police show up. Hina stands, body blocking Ren as Shinji finds him in an empty stair hall. ‘You think you’ve won?’ Shinji spits. ‘You don’t know a thing.’ Ren stands his ground, unsure if fear, shame, or anger will win in his gut.
The screen fades as a real spark flashes in Suki’s hospital room, eyes twitching.
