Episode Arc: Echoes of Avalon – The Hidden Core
Heiji Nakata sweats as he recalls that old map again. The design’s clear—a pattern no one else spots but him. Professor Inoue waves a hand. “Another tunnel stops at rubble. See?”
Heiji, sleeves rolled, steps forward. “Professor, the pattern loops—like a maze. What if there’s a way through what looks like dead ends?” Most in camp scoff, but Setsuna, sharp-eyed and loyal, tips her hat at him. Raijin, tall and strong but gentle, listens with care. Nao, skilled in old writing, traces sand over an image. “It always comes to Avalon’s heart.” Heiji shakes. “Then that’s what we’re after.”
This is the tale: the lost Avalon—a city buried, a place no map not of dreams dares remember. Heiji seeks truth, not lost gold. His little sister vanished during a mudslide three years back, where ruins first showed. “Lost things have a voice,” he whispers out loud as dusk comes. Do you ever read clues no one else does, at work or home?
They set out that night. Raijin leads with an old phone for light, Setsuna holds to the rear, watching for foul steps. The tunnel narrows, rough earth deep. Whispers echo, but each time, it’s wind or trick sound. Set your nerves calm. Everyone’s heart pounds, still not one turns back. So would you walk into dark air based on a map only you trust?
Three hours in, grit biting at heel and lung, they hit old stones etched with old gods. Nao leans close, eyes soft in faint light. She sounds out the signs: “Blood and stars. Twin doors, twin price.” Heiji matches it to an old story from his own ledger. Lay your hand on either door—only those who believe will open the right path. Raijin, sand-smudged, shrugs. “Or break both? Ain’t that our way?” Setsuna sighs. “Let Heiji lead.” Heiji puts his hand, dreams racing behind his eyes, flat to one stone. The air moves swept. The stone sinks, loud and slow. 
Corridor this time runs deep blue, odd plants that pulse spite the lack of sun. The walls shimmer, almost dance. “There, that’s light…” Setsuna is cut off when the walls shift—now, hidden men, critics—watch from the shadow, faces carved, eyes empty. Are these threats, or guardians? Nao gasps, drawing Raijin’s sleeve. Heiji stops them—raises two fingers—a hush to calm.
Old Avalon calls them to a runic square, but ringing now, a dull, hungry gong floats from depths below. Threat or warning? Pergium ore cuts a cold scent, mixing with decay old as ages. The way forward is a lift—a glyph device. “Myths say this climb opens only to those pure of will,” Nao reads from lichenagram, hands skimming broken words. “Who says we’re pure?” mutters Raijin, not cruel, just tired.
Heiji’s main drive tickles up again. He shouts—“We’re after answers, not riches. If heart writes fate, I’m proud to bear both.” He lays both steady hands on the glyph lift. The device wakes, humming with strength not seen in the sun-world above. 
As they ride up, patterns float in cold glow—entire lost stories catch pregnant in symbols on walls—high arts of Avalon start to move, projected in mist. Setsuna stops, lost in haze. “I’ve seen these in my father’s sketchbook ages back, long locked away.” Roots, they all share. Care bends what lies broken between the found and the lost.
The lift stops. Up top is not darkness—it’s green pulse and glass towers snaked with moss, old as stories. Down a path, shadows gather: shapes like people, outlined blue against the green. Are these shades, or just another hazy trick? Heiji kneels, clasps the ground. “Sis, I felt you here.” The others, always loyal, line up behind him out of respect.
But twists keep coming. Shot splinters crack through cool air—someone else wants Avalon’s core. Distant voices cry orders, unknown meanings, cold as spring steel. Setsuna draws a blade; Raijin, a stick big as a fence post, stands tall. Will they fight? What would you risk to save proof of a lost people, to keep a promise to family?
Fade out on Heiji gripping the pendant he keeps for his lost sister, voice shaking. “Don’t fail now. Please.” 
Ruin or rescue, foe or find—the answer glows Frail light, pulse and old heart, under broken glass high above. Fates knot unseen in steep stone halls. Who will unlock Avalon’s last secret? Cut to black, to slow-close white characters across the screen: “End Part One.” Next, will they save Sis, or lose themselves to the old drums?”
