The Whispering Map and the Forgotten City
Prologue – Whispers in the School Yard
At the edge of Hatoyo City, morning sun breaks over Akiba Middle, painting the schoolyard gold. Ren Ito stands outside the old science building. Something catches his eye – a scrap of yellow paper flutters by his foot. Ren leans in. A faint whisper brushes his ear, “Help me find home.”
He stops. “Did anyone else… hear that?”
Mai, his best friend, jogs over, scarf trailing behind. “Hear what? You spaced out again, Ren?”
He grins, pocketing the slip. “Let’s call it treasure.” Distinct chill. Is he the only one who felt it? How easy do you trust a strange voice?
Episode 1: The Map with Moving Roads
In the lunchroom, curiosity boils over. Ren flattens the paper. A map forms in ink. Streets squirm like eels. “It’s moving. That can’t be right,” says Ken, their hacker friend, eyes wide.
“What is this?” Rio asks, twisting a bottle cap in her hand.
The four of them check the school archives. Nothing matches, but Rio snags an old headline: ‘Treasure Buried, Town Flooded: Hatoyo’s Phantom City Mystery’. Ken’s tablet pings – satellite photos show an odd shadow in the forest. “Haunted city, maybe?” Ken shrugs. A scavenger hunt starts with the unknown. Would you chase this mystery on a hunch?

Episode 2: Ghost Lights and Alley Rats
Night falls. Map lines twist, pointing down forgotten streets into old woods. Ren can see a clear path none have heard of. Rio tags along, headlamp on. He asks, “Anyone else getting the creeps?” Mai shakes her head.
Deeper, wild lights flicker. Rats scatter – or something more? Hart, the gruff transfer student, walks ahead, face set in stone. “We’ve come too far for cowards,” he mutters, but picks up a stick just in case.
The alley mouth yawns open, cold breath on necks. The street is real. Only at night, only following the map. What old power hides here?
Episode 3: Trap of the Ancient Border
Worming through secret ways, the crew finds marble blocks peeking from moss. Rusted street signs – one whispers softly, “This way, home.” Ren’s hand shakes. That same voice? It’s stronger now. Mai drops her notebook – the ground opens as she steps. Ken barely grabs her.
Everyone’s heart pounds. Dead-end? No. Ren closes his eyes. The voice hums, slower this time: “Below.” Digging bare hands into packed earth, he hits old wood. Pulling hard, they lift a trapdoor. It stinks of smoke. So much for normal school nights.
Uneasy, the group locks eyes. Ren’s hands and knees are mud-stained, but he’s smiling. “After you?” Cheeky. But is it courage or is the treasure’s pull too strong?

Episode 4: City Beneath, Whispers Above
Wooden stairs creak as they descend. Below, ruined stone lanes curl into shadows, glow-worm lights flick on overhead. Ghostly figures appear, shapes from decades gone. Eyes stare. One, wearing old school clothes, grabs Ren’s shoulder—a cold chill bites into his bones.
She blinks. “Where are you taking my map?” Ren bows. “Trying to help you get home.” The girl laughs—a little sad, a little kind. Oslo, the school ghost. Or so the legends say.
They dig deeper. Painted walls show the city before the flood. Messages scratched into boulders: If you find this, remember. Not gold—memory. The city lost, its story trying to survive in these forgotten walls. Isn’t this what every treasure hunter fears? Finding sorrow, not coins?
Episode 5: Betrayal Under Faded Lanterns
Lanterns sway. A shadow skips past. Ken’s missing. They fan out—Ren hears frantic typing in another old office. Ken has hacked the records. “Guys, someone else is still down here! See this login timestamp? It’s not mine.”
Did someone lead them in? Suddenly, Mai’s scream cuts the air—she’s run into an adult. Corrupt city official, Fushimi, face twisted in malice. Legends twisted for cash. Fushimi yanks Ren aside; he wants the map.
Oslo steps in, hair glowing, winds swirl. “Release them, pretender!” Ren lunges, slamming Fushimi’s hand. The map writhes away, slips, dissolves. Who owns a city’s story—kids or liars? Would you run now or protect this place at any cost?

Arc Final: Under the Surface, Only Truth Stays
The group clashes with Fushimi. Dust chokes the lungs. Lanterns fall, fires race up broken signs. Oslo smiles at Ren, “It’s time you guard not treasure, but memory.” Walls crumble—water begins to leak.
Ken and Mai tug him away. The school chant rises above—a half-remembered mariner song. Oslo waves goodbye as they run for the stairs, the flooded city returning to quiet.
Back aboveground, dawn is pink with hope. The map is only ash, but Ren can still hear the lost voices, gentler now. He gazes out at modern Hatoyo and asks, “Would you do it again, knowing the ending?” Mai laughs softly, “With you, always.”
Ren’s scarf snaps in the wind. The adventure is over. Or is it? Ignoring the warning bell, Ren glances back. A new slip of paper floats at his foot. Fade to black, words on white: “All cities are stories. Will you find the next?”
